Position Overview

AV IT ENGR 3 TX | Department: INFORMATION SERVICES | Location: La Jolla | Appointment Type: Career | Schedule: 100% on-site, 8 hrs/day, Tuesday - Saturday Extended Deadline: Thu 9/18/2025. This position is 100% onsite and is in the TX union. The role will remain open until filled. Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the AV/IT Engineer 3 provides audio visual technical assistance within the department, and is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, operation, and end-user instruction of numerous complex interactive media systems used within the Health System. The position upholds HS AV Service Level Agreements, interacts with clients, Health System and Health Sciences technical staff, various UCSD internal groups, external departments, and outside vendors and consultants. The incumbent will work with display offerings (e.g., Digital Signage, Patient Entertainment, Operating Room Status Boards), Crestron and Extron systems, Projectors, Cameras, and other advanced AV manufacturer offerings. Responsibilities include complex assignments requiring independence, decision making, project management, and excellent judgment. Will support Collaboration tools such as Zoom, Cisco Collaboration endpoints, and other components as required. Gains practical OSHPD environment experience with knowledge of division standards related to AV methods. Minimum Qualifications

Seven (7) years of related experience in design, maintenance, and/or operation of audio visual systems OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training in design, maintenance, and/or operation of audio visual systems. Professional experience and proven success in AV/IT design and implementation. Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities to apply principles, practices and procedures within the discipline to complete difficult assignments. Demonstrated ability to create AV flow diagrams, schematics and AV infrastructure drawings. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes and regulations and ability to provide technical advice based on AV principles and practice. Experience managing phases of AV projects including scope, budget, planning, design, bid preparation, installation, inspection, testing and final walk-through. Ability to test and operate installed AV IT equipment. Knowledge of audio, video and control systems as well as architectural and cabling requirements. Knowledge of electronics theory with emphasis on audio, video and communications circuitry, AV IT control systems and signal flow. Knowledge of acoustic design theory. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications

Crestron CTI training (Toolbox, Simpl). Biamp Tesira Certification. Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). Cisco Telepresence. Special Conditions

100% on-site. On-call rotation. Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $71,600 - $127,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $34.29 - $61.02. Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
