We are seeking an experienced

Cyber Security Project Engineer (SME)

to provide advanced technical expertise supporting mission-critical programs in the Intelligence Community. The successful candidate will deliver cyber vulnerability analysis, IT architecture design, and technical risk assessments, ensuring secure, resilient, and compliant systems and operations. This position requires deep knowledge of IT systems, networking, hypervisors, operational security, and U.S. government cyber security standards.

Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Analyze IT systems for cyber security vulnerabilities across multiple platforms and environments.

Develop IT system and network architecture designs, conduct IP data flow analyses, configure encryption, and perform vulnerability assessments using open-source and commercial tools (e.g., Nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit, Canvas, Kismet, BackTrack).

Evaluate IT network configurations including firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems for cyber vulnerabilities.

Provide technical risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for enterprise and mission systems.

Support disaster recovery (DR) architectures, network management, storage, and backup systems.

Transition security domains and support cross-domain appliance usage.

Analyze procurement processes of hardware, software, and services to ensure compliance with cybersecurity and mission requirements.

Draft and deliver concise, structured written assessments and reports.

Provide technical recommendations to IT architecture/design reviews and the Sponsor’s IT review boards.

Apply U.S. Government standards and directives (e.g., ICD 503, NIST SP 800 series, FIPS).

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Active

TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)

required.

Demonstrated experience analyzing IT systems for vulnerabilities.

Hands-on experience with Windows, Linux, and OSX operating systems.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows versions 7, 8, 10, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2, 2016.

Demonstrated experience with network protocols: IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, MPLS, OSPF, IGRP, BGP, SIP, H.232.

Proficiency with hypervisors and cloud technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware ESX, VirtualBox).

Experience supporting disaster recovery and network storage solutions.

Proven expertise in technical risk assessments and providing mitigation guidance.

CISSP certification required.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications:

Experience with the Sponsor’s IT review boards, security policies, and regulations.

Familiarity with surveillance detection and operational assurance in cyber environments.

Experience applying U.S. Government security standards: ICD 503, NIST SP 800-37, 39, 53, 53A, 60, and FIPS.

Certifications: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

Eligibility

Must hold an

active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)

clearance at the time of application.

Must be able to work full-time on-site in

Chantilly, VA .

Salary: Salary for this position is determined based on qualifications, experience, and contract-specific budget considerations.

Proposed Salary Range:

$200,000 – $215,000
