Texas Oncology is looking for an

Admixture Technician

to join our Mansfield, TX team. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30a - 5:00p. This position will be either a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country with 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Our mission is to deliver high-quality, high-touch, evidence-based cancer care. We treat half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer annually. What does the Admixture Technician do?

Under direct supervision of a physician in a clinic admixture room, performs the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation. Responsible for record keeping and inventory control with minimal supervision. Tasks are subject to verification by a registered nurse or pharmacist. Supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Some state laws regulate compounding; certain incumbents may be prohibited from some tasks. Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under physician supervision. Checks orders for completeness and verifies patient information and physician authorization. Admixes drugs as ordered in an accurate and timely manner per department guidelines and OSHA/interoffice guidelines. Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents. Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintains records. Properly disposes materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. Maintains cleaning of hoods, checks drugs monthly for outdates; performs quality assurance activities. Maintains temperature logs and logs for protocol and patient assistance drugs. Maintains proper documentation of medications including lot numbers. Provides inventory control of medications. Prepares labels, files, and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation. Orders medications and supplies as directed. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and pharmacy to minimize particle counts and improve sanitation. Qualifications

Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent; 0-3 years pharmacy experience. Level 2 (requires Level 1): 3-5 years pharmacy experience with IV skills; IV certification preferred; Certified Pharmacy Technician or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended. Level Sr (requires Level 1 and 2): 5-7 years pharmacy IV skills; oncology background preferred or extensive IV preparation experience; ASHP-accredited program or community college program recommended.
