The Clinical Nurse Consultant at St John of God Midland plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centred palliative care, ensuring the best possible outcomes while managing resources effectively. With responsibility for maintaining and improving clinical standards, the Clinical Nurse Consultant drives innovative solutions aligned with service and organisational priorities. As a key leader in the interdisciplinary team, they ensure the Unit meets patient-centred care requirements and key performance indicators, reflecting SJGHC’s values.This position also provides expert consultation and liaison within the palliative care specialty, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to enhance service delivery and support for patients and their families.**Join us and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families during their most vulnerable times.****The Position*** Acts as a clinical resource in the area of clinical specialty, in consultation with the multidisciplinary team* Initiates and coordinates care of patients with complex problems in the area of clinical specialty.* Acts as a resource in planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients.* Promotes and facilitates patient discharge education, and arranges community support as required* Develops and maintains excellent standards of care in area of specialization including ongoing evaluation and promotion of quality improvement initiatives.* Fosters a clinical team culture of interdisciplinary collaboration leading to improved patient outcomes.* Demonstrates both clinical and administrative leadership through effective communication, interpersonal skills, change management ability and the development of a high-performance team that exhibits a culture of professional accountability and quality service.* Reviews clinical practice to ensure effective use of available resources.* Implements and supports the Nursing & Midwifery Standards of Excellence at within their area of specialty.* In conjunction with the relevant Manager, maintains accountability for the ongoing financial management and monitoring of the service cost centres including productivity, activity and utilisation in line with agreed budgetary parameters and performance targets.* All other reasonable duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor.**Position Requirements**Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse is essential, along with a bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent. A post-registration qualification in a relevant area of specialisation will be highly regarded, supported by relevant experience. You will demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and possess strong clinical teaching skills.Applicants must show a solid understanding and commitment to quality improvement and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. Well-developed communication skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving, are essential. Additionally, a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards such as the Nurses Act, Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety and Health and Equal Employment Opportunity is required.A strong desire and passion for palliative care is essential.
