About the Job The

Early Childhood Consultant

will serve as the lead clinical consultant on early childhood development issues impacting families known to child welfare, functioning in an ACS borough office.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide case-specific consultations to ACS, Preventive Services, and Foster care staff regarding early childhood issues.

Train ACS staff in early childhood development assessment, diagnosis, and service planning.

Complete documentation of clinical consults using ACS templates within required timeframes.

Maintain JB tracking log for referrals.

Follow up with staff on consults as needed.

Complete ACS statistical reports.

Meet weekly productivity requirements.

Outreach to CPS to generate referrals.

Conduct ongoing needs assessments in the field office.

Identify and review external resources suitable for families in child welfare.

Ensure external resource linkages are child welfare friendly and appropriate.

Participate in conferences such as ERC, FTM, as assigned.

Involve in direct family engagement as appropriate, including home/community visits.

Collaborate with team members to develop a coordinated clinical team.

Conduct focus groups to assess training needs related to early childhood mental health.

Create linkages with early childhood providers for resources and information dissemination.

Provide case-specific consultations, including direct contact with clients when necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational/Training Requirements:

Master's in Social Work (LMSW/LCSW), Licensed Psychologist, or Master's in Early Childhood Development with 3-5 years of experience.

Strong knowledge of early childhood mental health and impact of trauma.

Knowledge of domestic violence and substance use helpful.

Familiarity with the child welfare system preferred.

Willingness to work according to the NYC Holiday schedule.
