Green City Growers seeks a positive, driven individual interested in immersing themselves in a growing business and becoming an integral part of the management team. This is a perfect position for someone who is motivated by something larger than themselves, can work as part of a team, is a self-starter, can see their work through with a high degree of independence, and is looking for a great opportunity to grow. This is an exciting opportunity to join a hands-on team in a quickly growing company that is dedicated to developing sustainable onsite food production systems. This role includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing budgeting and forecasting activities. The Controller plays a critical role in decision-making by providing financial insight and supporting business initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain QuickBooks Online (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll) Drive monthly financial close process and reporting Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records Develop forecasts and reporting of variance to actual results Drive annual budget process Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Enhance financial literacy and accountability throughout the company Ad hoc reporting and building financial models to evaluate various opportunities IT:
Manage basic technology maintenance and serve as a liaison between the parent company and external IT support providers
Administration:
Act as primary liaison to parent company office relating to finance, legal, compliance, and all back-office activities Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures for the administrative area of the company Manage version control and formatting of all internal documentation Train and manage Administrative Assistant
Desired Skills:
Strong financial modeling capabilities in MS Excel – including budget/forecast development Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Suite – Excel/Word/PowerPoint Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented and highly organized Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment Interest in urban agriculture, organic farming, sustainability, and urban planning Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in accounting) CPA desired. Minimum two years’ experience in accounting management role overseeing monthly close process and reporting. Benefits:
