About the Organization The Savings Bank, founded in 1869, is one of the oldest banks in the United States, and serves local communities and families. The Bank was initially chartered to provide the community with a safe place to deposit their money, get a loan to buy or build a house, or secure money for a small business. The Savings Bank has remained independent since opening in 1869, serving customers and not shareholders, and making decisions locally.

The Saving Bank's mission today is to provide the personalized delivery of innovative financial services by committed employees, coupled with an unwavering loyalty towards community relationships. The Bank employs approximately 120 people across a variety of areas to carry out this mission. The Bank is headquartered in Wakefield, Massachusetts, and provides personal banking and business banking services through branch locations in Wakefield, Lynnfield, Methuen and North Reading and through online and mobile banking. In addition to traditional bank products and services, such as consumer and commercial deposits and loans, The Savings Bank's subsidiary, First Financial Trust, N.A., offers wealth management and estate planning. The Bank operates two charitable foundations: TSB Charitable Foundation (supporting the poor, the homeless, the elderly, and family services) and the Donald E. Garrant Foundation (supporting financial literacy in public and private schools [K-12] and non-profits).
