Mobile Generation , the fastest-growing Verizon Wireless Retailer in the Midwest, is currently looking for a Reconciliation Specialist to join our team. The Reconciliation Specialist for Mobile Generation will be responsible for ensuring that transactions processed through the POS system are properly reflected in the company’s financial records. This individual will investigate discrepancies between what is recorded in the system and what was actually paid. You’ll be the driving force behind resolving these discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner, as well as offering actionable solutions to prevent similar issues in the future.
This role will require strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with different departments, including the frontline team, to ensure that issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

The Reconciliation Specialist for Mobile Generation will be responsible for:
Transaction Reconciliation: Ensure all daily sales transactions recorded in the POS system align with actual payments received. Identify and investigate any discrepancies or inconsistencies, including cash, credit, and digital payments.
Discrepancy Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations to determine the root cause of discrepancies between POS reports and actual payments. Analyze each issue to uncover whether the cause is system-related, human error, or operational inefficiency.
Reporting and Documentation : Prepare detailed reports on discrepancies, including explanations, trends, and the impact of each issue. Regularly submit reconciliation summaries to management, highlighting unresolved issues and progress in resolution. Maintain accurate records for compliance and audit purposes.
Issue Resolution & Communication: Collaborate with the finance and operations teams to resolve discrepancies efficiently. Work closely with front-line staff to identify process gaps and ensure that proper procedures are being followed. Provide guidance on resolving operational issues and improving transaction accuracy.
Trend Analysis: Monitor recurring discrepancies, identifying any patterns or systemic issues. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to mitigate frequent discrepancies and improve overall accuracy.
Training and Support: Assist in training front-line staff on best practices for using the POS system and avoiding common errors. Provide ongoing support and resources to help teams understand and address discrepancies more effectively.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Act as the liaison between finance, operations, and front-line staff to ensure smooth communication and issue resolution. Work with IT or system support teams to address technical issues if discrepancies are related to POS software or hardware malfunctions.
Mobile Generation is looking for candidates with:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration is preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a reconciliation, accounting, or operations-related role. Experience working with POS systems, or retail operations is highly preferred.
Strong attention to detail with an ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently. Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, formulas) or other similar data management software. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-financial staff. Capable of collaborating effectively with different teams to address concerns and resolve issues.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically when investigating discrepancies. Capable of providing innovative solutions and improving processes.
Previous experience in a reconciliation role or financial operations team.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks without extensive supervision.
