Job Description: The Small Animal Hospital is seeking a technician who is enthusiastic about providing support to a variety of specialty services with an emphasis or specific interest in small animal reproduction. They assist with exams, directly provide specialty care under the direction of our faculty veterinarians, coordinate the schedule including with other specialty services, and provide clinical instruction and demonstration to veterinary students. They also provide client service and administrative support, which includes, but is not limited to assisting and facilitating client service-related matters and maintaining a clean, sanitary, and functionally well-organized service.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Technical and Clinical Services - assists with patient medical evaluations; performs routine and specialty patient nursing care; records in patient medical records; collects, prepares, and submits laboratory samples; captures and inputs fees for materials and services; maintains inventory and replenishes stock within the assigned areas; sets up, maintains, and ensures proper storage of specialized equipment. Client Communication - assists with client inquires; provides client education including reviewing discharges and at-home care; planning, organizing, and coordinating appointments, consultations, and diagnostic scheduling; formatting and uploading of medical information. Instruction and Teaching - assists in teaching students including student orientation sessions
This is a full-time, limited time frame (approx. 6 months) position with a post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment required. Typical schedule will be Monday through Friday which may require working earlier then 8:00 a.m. or later than 5:00 p.m. Schedule may change due to covering other shifts. Will participate in holiday schedule for covering the emergency and critical care areas. Will be part of the Emergency Response Team. Some weekend duty may be required.
Additional potential for applicants to be considered for a part-time, limited time frame (approx. 6 months) position with a post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment required. Typical schedule will be Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Will be part of the Emergency Response Team. Some weekend duty may be required.
Expected Salary: $18.00-$25.00
Preferred
Currently enrolled or Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology OR Credentialed veterinary technician
