Commerce, Data & Identity provides core product management for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses, including digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as enterprise-wide initiatives such as messaging and privacy. It also oversees data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN and their integration with other parts of The Walt Disney Company. About The Role
The Content Data Solutions team builds and maintains best-in-class data products enabling business teams to analyze and measure subscriber movements and support revenue-generation initiatives. The Senior Data Engineer will partner with business, analytics and infrastructure teams to design and build data pipelines to facilitate measuring subscriber movements and metrics. They will identify internal/external data sources, design table structures, define ETL strategy, and implement automated Data Quality checks. Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and growth of our Data Products and Data Warehouses around Content Performance and Content Engagement data. Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in Big Data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid). Work with our tech stack: AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Spark and Airflow. Architect data solutions/frameworks and define data models for the underlying data warehouse and data marts. Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Architects and Data Engineers to design, implement, and deliver data solutions. Maintain detailed documentation to support data quality and data governance. Ensure high operational efficiency and quality to meet SLAs and support Data Science/Data Analytics teams. Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practices to improve team health and processes. Basic Qualifications
5+ years of data engineering experience developing large data pipelines. Strong understanding of data modeling principles (dimensional modeling, data normalization). Experience using analytic SQL with traditional relational databases and/or distributed systems (Snowflake or Redshift). Good understanding of SQL engines and ability to conduct advanced performance tuning. Strategic thinking with ability to analyze and interpret market and consumer information. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications
Experience programming languages (e.g., Python, PySpark). Experience with data orchestration/ETL tools (Airflow, NiFi). Experience with Snowflake, Databricks/EMR/Spark & Airflow is a plus. Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience. Master’s Degree a plus. Additional Information
