$67/HR ALTA IT is seeking an experienced

ADABAS Database Specialist

to provide expert-level technical support in planning, configuring, implementing, and maintaining

Software AG’s (SAG) suite of ADABAS products

in an enterprise

z/OS mainframe environment . This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical ADABAS Cluster Services, ensuring high availability and continuous operations. The specialist will lead initiatives in disaster recovery, performance tuning, system optimization, and regulatory compliance, while providing technical guidance to DBAs, PMOs, and system design staff. Key Responsibilities:

Plan, install, configure, customize, and implement SAG ADABAS software products, including Cluster Services, Online Services (AOS), SAF security, and associated tools.

Configure and implement ADABAS support for structured/unstructured data, SQL, Natural, and security features.

Plan and execute disaster recovery strategies for ADABAS and related products, including offsite restoration.

Manage and create table spaces, assist DBAs with parameter settings, and optimize database structures for efficiency.

Configure and optimize ADABAS Cluster Services, add-on tools, and Nucleus 64-bit processing support.

Implement buffering strategies for data and indexes in main memory to reduce CPU consumption and improve performance.

Monitor, analyze, and tune ADABAS database performance, including reporting resource consumption through SMF.

Ensure compliance with audits, regulatory standards, and internal change control processes.

Provide technical assistance to programming, DBMS, and systems design teams.

Troubleshoot and perform dump analysis of Natural programs and resolve database performance issues.

Plan and execute migrations or conversions of the SAG software suite to other platforms such as DB2 or Oracle.

Support z/OS operating system parameters and IBM CICS Transaction Server tuning for optimal performance in CICSPlex environments.

Automate ADABAS startup/shutdown using Tivoli System Automation for z/OS or similar tools.

Apply SAG software updates and fixes to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

Minimum of 12 years of experience installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting SAG’s ADABAS database systems.

Minimum of 5 years of recent experience with ADABAS on z/OS.

Required & Desired Skills/Certifications:

Recent hands-on experience with

ADABAS Cluster Services

in IBM z/OS Parallel Sysplex environments.

Experience with

ADABAS Suspend/Resume

functionality for Point-in-Time copy.

Proficiency with SAG products such as:

PREDICT

REVIEW DB

REVIEW Natural Monitor

Natural Security

Natural Optimizer Compiler

Natural Construct

ADABAS Native SQL

AOS

Experience developing and implementing disaster recovery procedures.

Proven ability to monitor and tune ADABAS, optimize CPU usage, and ensure high availability.

Experience supporting

CICS Natural applications

in

CICSPlex

environments.

Strong background in maintaining z/OS operating systems and IBM CICS parameters for optimized performance.

Experience with SAG software migrations and applying software patches and updates.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including the ability to provide technical consultation and training.
