The Aviation Security and Regulatory Compliance (AvSec) team is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-obsessed AvSec Manager to oversee in-house screening operations in Brazil. The successful candidate will develop and establish risk-based security standards, ensure compliance with federal regulations, corporate policies, and standardized processes. You should be a strong leader who embraces core values and is eager to support the Amazon Air network. This role involves supporting Amazon Air operations by understanding, implementing, and validating security requirements to keep employees, third-party vendors, and assets secure. You will ensure the organization is prepared to respond to security threats, emergencies, and escalations effectively. Effective communication, strategic thinking, and management skills are essential for challenging conventional wisdom, delivering results, and leading teams. Responsibilities include engaging with Amazon Air Gateway Operations Leadership, 3P Security Directors, Air Carrier Security Directors during incident management, and making data-driven decisions based on Security Management System (SeMS) data. This position will support operations on the East and West Coasts of the US, Hawaii, and Alaska. Key job responsibilities
Anticipate customer needs by understanding their business and developing scalable solutions. Conduct weekly and quarterly reviews to communicate team focus, trends, initiatives, and deliverables. Collaborate with internal teams to develop security solutions that support operational objectives. Present SeMS data, metrics, and KPIs to internal and external stakeholders. Manage risks by analyzing data from reporting tools. Coordinate with local and federal regulatory agencies. Meet regularly with 3P Security and Air Carrier Leadership to discuss projects and data trends. Develop workforce strategies aligned with long-term goals, promoting diversity and inclusion. Support onboarding and knowledge transfer of regulatory requirements. Serve as Subject Matter Expert during incidents, providing guidance to operations teams. Review security practices for regulatory compliance. Investigate violations using SeMS, identify root causes, and develop mitigation strategies. Build relationships with aviation and security stakeholders, including law enforcement. About the team
The AvSec team handles security, loss prevention, and regulatory compliance at Amazon, focusing on Security Management Systems, Programs, Quality Assurance, Security Operations, and Credentialing. The team aims to mitigate risks to personnel, assets, brand, and compliance, grounded in a robust SeMS framework. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in aviation security, regulatory, transportation, supply chain, or security management. Ability to obtain airport authority and/or Customs security badges, if applicable. Effective communication, influence, negotiation skills, and experience driving continuous improvement. Flexibility to work hours as needed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Security Operations certifications. Experience in aviation security and regulatory compliance, especially with TSA or US Customs. Strong leadership and influence skills in a matrix organization. Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize, and exercise judgment (certifications like CPP, PSP, CFE preferred). Experience with physical security controls and surveillance systems.
