30 hours per week We are excited to announce that we are looking for a College Counsellor. We are seeking a passionate and experienced candidate to join our dedicated team. The Role: Macclesfield College values are an essential component of the College achieving its core principles and it is an expectation that these are adopted in every day working. The successful candidate will provide counselling services that foster a safe and trusting environment under the overall direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). This role is responsible for delivering a high-quality personal counselling service to support students in achieving their full potential. The College Counsellor operates as an independent professional within the framework of the College’s policies, procedures, and relevant professional standards (BACP). Professional supervision will be provided by an external supervisor in accordance with BACP requirements. Main Duties for this role include: To undertake client assessments as appropriate and provide individual and group counselling sessions for College students who are seeking assistance with personal issues to enable learners achieve their full potential and progress appropriately. Build and maintain close working relationships with professional external counselling support agencies and internal stakeholders including Learning Mentors, ALS department, and Teachers to ensure team around the learner communication. To keep confidential and concise formal client records in line with BACP guidelines and to provide accurate statistics of the service as required by DSL to measure the impact of the service and to support the College’s strategic planning. Promote the counselling service through the college induction and tutorial systems including contributing to the design and distribution of promotional material including posters, leaflets, and the student intranet to ensure effective and accessible communication of the service available to all learners. To report any concerns to the designated safeguarding person in line with the College Safeguarding Policy.
