The Core Mobile team builds Slack's Android and iOS apps to deliver a seamless mobile experience. We serve Messaging, Admin & Trust, and Growth teams, focusing on user-centric design and high performance. Role Overview
We're looking for a Staff Android Engineer to help take Slack's Android app to the next level. You'll: Lead technical initiatives, making trade-offs and shaping long-term product roadmaps Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams to deliver delightful, performant features Coach and mentor engineers, driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders Ensure the app scales efficiently for millions of users, optimizing performance and reliability Staff engineers at Slack are technical leaders, accountable for the success of the team. You'll focus on user-facing features, ensuring design and performance meet the highest standards. What You Should Have
7+ years of mobile engineering experience with technical leadership in medium to large teams Strong understanding of Android framework components, lifecycles, and API levels Experience building high-performance Java/Kotlin apps and optimizing view layouts Solid computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and concurrency Track record of identifying complex issues and delivering high-impact solutions Experience collaborating with Product and Design to craft engaging mobile experiences Familiarity with Android development, testing, debugging, and performance tools Strong attention to detail, disciplined approach to development, and eagerness to learn Bonus Points
