Job Summary The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will be a leader on the Supplier Quality team, expected to be a subject matter expert with regard to Supplier Quality processes and provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members. This position will support the development of the long term vision for ZOLL supplier quality and will execute both the tactical and strategic plans to support this vision.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of supplier quality performance which may include driving corrective actions with suppliers, leading risk reduction activities, managing new product development activities at suppliers, and leading process improvements within the supply chain.

Proactively identify improvement opportunities in the supply chain network, or with internal quality processes, and drive continuous improvements to achieve results.

Lead and drive the development of training material for suppliers and provide guidance to suppliers to ensure they grow and develop in line with business needs.

Work independently with Engineering, Purchasing and Suppliers to establish new product qualification criteria and define, support, and execute supplier quality plans and first article inspections (FAI) as required.

Collaborate with suppliers to continually improve overall part quality, enhance their quality systems, and drive projects such as reducing the need for incoming inspection by driving quality back through the supply chain.

Evaluate, qualify, and manage new suppliers to maximize the net value of the supply chain network.

Measure and report supplier performance metrics and drive supplier improvements for all assigned suppliers.

Collaborate with Engineering to review requirements with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood.

Collect, analyze, and present quality data during supplier strategic business reviews.

Lead investigations of supplier and/or component performance issues, including corrective and preventive actions and driving continuous improvements.

Conduct Supplier Audits and manage resulting Supplier Corrective Action activities.

Travel to supplier facilities to review and enhance their effectiveness and capabilities.

Work with all groups within the organization to ensure business objectives are met.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical area; MBA/MS preferred.

5-7 years relevant experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, or manufacturing with a proven record of achievement.

Project management experience with MS Project a plus.

Lead Auditor Certification.

Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Consistent track record of working with multiple departments such as purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate technical information with internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of various manufacturing processes with emphasis on electronics and mechanical assembly operations.

Proficiency with quality management systems and standards.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, prints, and specifications.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Proficiency with statistical analysis tools focusing on measurement systems capability, process capability, DOE, and process control.

Resourceful and independent.

Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%, including international travel.
