Overview
The Ameritania Hotel in Times Square is actively seeking to hire a Director of Engineering to join its leadership team. The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all hotel facilities, equipment, and maintenance functions. This role ensures that all aspects of the hotel property are functioning optimally, providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests while managing a team of maintenance personnel, implement preventative maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Supervise and lead the engineering team in daily operations, ensuring high standards of maintenance and repair
Manage the hotel's facilities management system, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance
Utilize maintenance management system to track work orders, schedules, and inventory
Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards
Oversee the operation and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers and other automated systems
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or projects as needed
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including schematics for electrical systems and mechanical equipment
Provide leadership in project management for renovations or upgrades to hotel facilities
Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with established safety protocols, particularly concerning high voltage and low voltage systems
Qualifications
10+ years of proven experience in hotel engineering
Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in industrial maintenance
Proficient in managing HVAC systems and other essential hotel infrastructure
Familiarity with electrical systems, including high voltage and low voltage applications
Excellent leadership skills with a track record of supervising maintenance teams effectively
Strong project management skills to oversee renovations or upgrades efficiently
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and best practices within hotel operations
