Overview
Crane Aerospace & Electronics are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of ~30 engineers (electrical, mechanical, systems) in a fast-paced Aerospace & Defense environment in Burbank, CA. This role focuses on process development, CNC/CMM programming, and tooling design, driving operational excellence, and supporting new product introductions while maintaining AS9100 compliance. The ideal candidate will excel in strategic leadership, present to corporate (Crane Co.), and address communication gaps to ensure clear direction and execution. Responsibilities
Lead Process Development : Oversee manufacturing process development, CNC and CMM programming, tool and fixture design, and validation to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements. Drive Operational Excellence : Champion process improvements, setup reduction, and visual standard work to achieve cost reduction, productivity, and lead time goals. Support New Product Development : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective manufacturing of new or revised products, including labor, materials, tooling, and equipment. Manage Engineering Resources : Evaluate and prioritize engineering requests, ensuring feasibility and optimal resource allocation while maintaining AS9100 compliance. Lead Continuous Improvement : Drive Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and other initiatives to support organizational goals and enhance operational efficiency. Budget and Capital Management : Prepare and manage departmental budgets, control expenses, and justify capital equipment investments for operations. Team Leadership : Guide and mentor personnel in the Model Shop, Tool Room, and Tool Crib, ensuring adherence to company policies and compliance with applicable agreements, while fostering strong communication and strategic alignment.
