Principal OR Sr. Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer
to our International Field Service Engineer team. This position supports the MQ-4C Triton Program and reports to the Operations team lead within the Mission Systems IPT. The selected candidate will be responsible for operations and maintenance support of MQ-4C Triton sensors and communications systems at a Forward Operating Base (FOB). Note: The program may require international deployment. Responsibilities
Provide real time support to flight operations and maintenance addressing issues related to communications and payloads (MFAS Radar, EO/IR, airborne recorder, and link16); perform fault isolation, remediation, and resolution. Coordinate work with site leadership and ensure Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs) are in place for required tasks. Follow checklists/procedures; provide redlines to procedures when necessary. Communicate complex technical issues to local support, the Degrader Action Cell (DAC), Main Operation Bases (MOBs), and Responsible Engineers (REs). Support and lead air crew engagement for solving complex technical problems during operations. Assist with trend analysis for REs. Assist Air Vehicle Operator (AVO) with Main Operating Base communications, networks, and interfaces. Develop expertise across supported sensor and communications systems. Potentially provide field support at international sites. Support on-site assignment for a minimum of 24 months. Initial training and deployment:
6+ months of training on a Domestic Assignment to San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA
with some travel to other US locations (Baltimore, MD and Jacksonville, FL). After training, deployment to international locations (Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates, or Guam) for a minimum of 24 months may be required. Location to be selected by Northrop Grumman based on business needs. Deployment benefits communicated after location selection. If no international assignment is available, relocation to a core U.S. location may occur. Shift and on-site work: Initially a 9/80 shift; as the program matures, shifts may become 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and/or holidays. No remote work available. Travel up to 25% outside of training. Note: This position can be filled at either the Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer level or the Senior Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer level, depending on qualifications. Basic Qualifications For Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 5 years of related engineering experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or PhD with 1 year. Competence in Linux, troubleshooting, engineering documents, tools, and equipment. Familiarity with payload operations or communications/networks operations. Willingness to complete required training in San Diego with travel to other US locations. Willingness to support international assignment for 24+ months (Japan, Italy, UAE, Guam); location based on business needs. Willingness to relocate to core U.S. locations as needed. Ability to pass a new hire physical if required by the company. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, CISSP) within a reasonable timeframe. Must have a DoD Secret clearance (in-scope or CE) with ability to obtain Top-Secret/SCI clearance within a reasonable timeframe. Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). Basic Qualifications For Senior Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experience; or Master’s with 6 years; or PhD with 4 years. Same technical prerequisites as Principal level: Linux proficiency, payloads/networks familiarity, training plan, international/deployment readiness, relocations, clearances, and SAP/PAR eligibility. Preferred Qualifications For Both Levels
Active DoD Top Secret clearance with recent background investigation or Continuous Evaluation. Active DoD 8140 IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, CISSP). Understanding of MQ-4C sensors and communications payloads. Experience with test equipment: network/spectrum analyzers, signal generators. Knowledge of MPO/TC operator system; system administrator experience. Experience with Operations and Maintenance at a field site. Ability to support a new or extended assignment at an international or Guam location after 24 months, based on business needs. Salary ranges: Primary Level $91,200.00 - $136,800.00; Secondary Level $113,500.00 - $170,300.00. Salary is a general guideline; actual offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
