As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of the Vehicle Design and Integration team and report to the Vehicle Design and Integration Manager. This cross-functional role sits at the convergence of avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams, with hands-on work designing, building, integrating, and testing harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware. The position will be located at our facility in Mountain View, California. Responsibilities
Define hardware interfaces in collaboration with the avionics, mechanical, and integration teams. Design and detail harnesses, including routing definitions. Design and test enclosures for environmental protection. Design structural mounts for securing hardware in the aircraft. Design, install, and test hardware on a remotely operated aircraft. Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate components on the airplane. Basic Success Criteria
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience 2+ years of experience in mechanical or avionics hardware design Ability to route harnessing (in CAD and in the airplane) strategically Experience with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods Experience designing and analyzing structural mounts A love of spatial packaging Be logical, inquisitive, and eager to teach and learn Preferred Criteria
4+ years of experience in harness design and avionics packaging Experience performing design trades for and detail design of aerospace flight harnesses Experience with NX routing and Capital Harness Designer Experience designing avionics enclosures Experience working on certification-path aviation development projects Experience testing hardware to DO-160 requirements Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary range for this position is $86,500 to $156,500 per year, plus cash and stock option awards and benefits. We offer stock options, employee medical, 401k contribution, collaborative coworkers, and a casual work environment. Additional Information
