Functional Senior Manager in Electrical Engineering . In this role, you will lead a team of electrical engineering managers, as well as electrical, firmware, and test engineers, across a diverse range of programs. You will be responsible for ensuring technical and professional excellence in all activities, delivering results on time and within budget, and fostering the continuous growth and development of the team. We are seeking a driven, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to guide a team of exceptional technical professionals into the future of naval electronics. What You Will Do
Responsible for supervising a team of electrical engineering managers and individual contributor engineers on a wide range of electrical engineering designs Ability to supervise a technical group independently and effectively Manage budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments Drive Design for Cost, Manufacturability, Maintainability, etc. (DfX) aspects into all designs within the department Perform succession planning and skills gap analysis, mentor and provide technical guidance to subordinates, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence Identify, gain consensus for, and oversee value added process improvement efforts for engineering to execute Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required; foster strong interpersonal relationships and face-to-face interactions to support employee satisfaction and success Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization, fostering a change management culture for the future of the business Attend in-person or remote appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings Participate or lead the technical engineering preparation of proposals Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, program managers, and supply chain Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience leading or managing a team of individual contributors, and a minimum of 8 years of electrical engineering design, development, and test experience Technical expertise to manage those involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronics systems, and design transfer to production activities including hardware, power engineering, power electronics, electromagnetics, integrated circuit engineering, and firmware Experience with MS Project scheduling; Agile development programs is a plus Experience leading change and change management A problem solver, decision maker, and team leader U.S. Citizenship required. This position may require an active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment. The expected salary range for this position in Connecticut is $164,077 to $254,728. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
