The GE9X Design Engineering team is looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer ready to work on the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine in the world – the GE9X – as we progress toward entry into service on Boeing’s 777X aircraft. Within GE9X Design Engineering, the Senior HPT Rotor Design Engineer will support efforts focused on product durability, validation, and entry into service preparations. This role requires cross functional collaboration with systems engineering, the product line team, and across Technology & Operations to identify and execute solutions to improve durability within the high pressure turbine (HPT). This is an important pre-EIS phase of the GE9X program to position for a successful entry into service. Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work includes mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products. Develop specialized knowledge in the discipline. Serve as a best-practice/quality resource. Contribute to strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within the area of responsibility. Apply in-depth knowledge of best practices and how the area integrates with others; understand market competition and differentiating factors. Use judgment to solve moderately complex tasks or problems in operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Use data analysis to support recommendations and draw from multiple internal and limited external sources. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus. Develop persuasion skills to influence others on topics within the field. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college. Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college. Minimum of 5 years of experience in turbomachinery or rotating parts design experience. Strong HPT/HPC rotor design experience. MRB certification experience. Experience using structured problem solving techniques, such as TOPS8DS. Ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating model. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
