Overview
Structural Maintenance Specialist 2 at the City of Bellevue, Washington. The Structural Maintenance Specialist 2 performs more complex duties in structural maintenance at city parks facilities and community centers, with possible specialization in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Responsibilities include on-site supervision of temporary and subordinate workers, troubleshooting, ensuring equipment availability, and reporting project status to supervisors. The role focuses on Parks structural and facilities maintenance and requires diligent operation and care of equipment to complete tasks efficiently and with professional conduct toward the public. Serves as the primary point of contact for their area of responsibility for repairs and customer input. Open until filled. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Repairs, remodels, and maintains city park sites by completing specialized plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work; repairing and installing locks, motors, and pumps; troubleshooting HVAC equipment. Inspect and repair playgrounds and other playground assets. Advise the Structural Supervisor or Operations Manager on needed repairs, concerns, and resource needs. Apply proper methods and products for graffiti removal. Install light controls and fixtures. Repair structures such as docks and footbridges. Complete quality control assignments related to structural work and inspections; repair office furniture. Inspect and maintain drinking fountains and restroom buildings. Install, fabricate, and maintain park assets and amenities (signs, benches, fencing, bollards). Door hardware installation and repair. Inspect and repair playground equipment and assigned park assets. Inspect and repair assigned park assets. Interact with CMMS (Maximo) and payroll computer systems. Supervision Received And Exercise
Operate with little or no on-site supervision. Lead summer/temporary workers and/or Structural Maintenance Specialist I when assigned. Coordinate with other Structural Maintenance Specialist II staff. Work with contractors on on-site asset repairs. Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with safe operation of tools and equipment such as routers, electric jackhammers, pickup trucks, boom trucks, man lifts, boating equipment, backhoes, shovels, wheelbarrows, pressure washers, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tools, dump trucks, and testing equipment. Finish carpentry and cabinetry skills. Leadership abilities and job management. Commitment to ongoing learning of diversity, equity & inclusion, and applying these principles in work. Knowledge of safety requirements, building codes, and ordinances. Ability to envision design intent of facilities and build from sketches. Demonstrated proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical repair. Knowledge of ADA requirements. Computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Maximo. Other Requirements
Valid, current driver’s license. CPSI certification (certified playground safety inspector) or obtain within 12 months (Required). Being placed in the 24-hour on-call rotation after one year of service. Supplemental Information
