Overview
ST Equipment & Technology (STET) is the developer of a proprietary separation technology used to process dry powders such as fly ash, mineral ores, and food/feed powders by triboelectrically charging and separating particles in a strong electric field. STET is a part of the Titan America group. ST Equipment & Technology LLC has an opportunity for a Mechanical Product Design Engineer at the Needham, MA location. The primary objective is to design and develop new equipment, improve existing equipment design, and provide engineering support to manufacturing and process development teams. Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams from around the world, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and business development, to define product requirements and specifications that are feasible and manufacturable and deliver them on schedule at the right cost. Conceptualize and design new products that meet customer needs and company requirements. Develop and improve existing products by analyzing feedback, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing design changes. Create 3D models, drawings, and prototypes using SolidWorks computer-aided design software. Conduct simulations and tests to validate product designs and ensure they meet safety, performance, and reliability standards. Iterate designs based on feedback, testing and optimization. Manage projects to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality products. Conduct research on new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to incorporate into product designs. Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and bills of materials. Provide technical support to manufacturing teams to ensure products are produced to the correct specifications. Participate in design reviews and contribute creative ideas to solve complex engineering challenges. Analyze and solve technical problems that arise during the product design and manufacturing process. Keep up to date with industry trends, regulations, and standards to ensure product designs comply with relevant requirements. Set SMART objectives and monitor progress. Develop prototypes to test function and validate designs. Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and project managers. Familiar with process control and statistical capability. Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation processes. Develop and build prototypes to test their function. Knowledge of industry design principles and manufacturing processes. Maintain documentation and records to ensure areas of responsibility align with current standards and methods. Provide advice and support to the business development team in communications with external customers. Ensure all products meet safety regulations. Write detailed operational procedures. Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design and manufacturing. Expert level proficiency with SolidWorks CAD tools (3D modeling, drawings, and stress analysis). Good working knowledge and practical experience in the design, development, and manufacture of electro-mechanical devices. Experience with engineering design guidelines for CNC machining, sheet metal forming and plastic injection molding. Familiar with design for manufacturing assembly and serviceability. Experience creating budgets and timelines for projects. Document problems and issues in bug tracking databases and ensure timely resolution. Experience with electro-mechanical designs and control systems. Analyzing and testing existing products to identify areas for potential improvement. Collaborating with other Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers. Familiarity with process control and statistical capability. Developing and building prototypes to test their function. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials selection. Experience with prototyping, testing, and the validation processes. In-depth knowledge of industry design principles. Ability to set and monitor objectives using SMART criteria. Shainin, DFSS or other technical structured problem-solving experience is a plus. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills. Product-focused creative thinking. Project management and leadership skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Strong attention to detail. Track record of bringing products from concept to production is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
