Role reports to the Manager of Network Reliability and is part of CoreSite's Network Engineering team. The role focuses on advancing automation, scale, and next-generation initiatives, with emphasis on SDN, Cloud, and virtualization. The position emphasizes product improvements and automation. Candidates should have experience in at least one programming language and be able to demonstrate this during the interview process. A computer science degree is not required, but a solid understanding of fundamental programming concepts is expected. As part of a world-class engineering team, you’ll contribute to eliminating repetitive tasks and enabling enterprises to consume expanding cloud services. Duties
Train, mentor, and develop the skills of Network Reliability Engineers. Ensure quality of the customer experience in production and in ideation, design, and development of next-generation systems. Partner with Engineering teams to measure, deliver, and improve both engineering and customer experiences. Improve observability through enhanced monitoring, metrics, logging, and system analytics. Build software and systems to manage services and applications via automation. Maintain network asset management, including inventory and related documentation and technical specifications. Produce network topology diagrams for existing and new infrastructures for internal and external needs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Track record of building and running high-performance teams. Fundamental understanding of API concepts, data storage, service status, and session handling. Proficiency in at least one programming language; willingness to perform live coding exercises. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with cloud workloads and at least one major public cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP). Strong teamwork, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Exhibits a strong work ethic and accountability to deadlines. Education/Experience
6+ years' experience as a Network Engineer in a service provider environment with high-end routing/switching infrastructure. Experience in Cloud interconnection. Preferred experience in ISP and/or telecommunications companies. Preferred experience with cloud computing architectures (IaaS, SaaS, etc.). Preferred CCNP certification or equivalent experience. Four-year college/trade education preferred or equivalent work experience. Physical Demands
