A role in Engineering within Store Design means applying innovative and sustainable design and technical expertise. Your work will directly impact the reliability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of Target’s physical operations.
As a
Lead Electrical Engineer
at Target, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems across Target’s Retail Stores and Global Supply Chain & Logistics Facilities. Your work will include utility coordination, switchgear & generator strategy development, and renewable energy strategies. You will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring electrical designs meet performance, safety, and efficiency standards while aligning with business goals. You will collaborate with internal partners such as Store Design, Construction, Property Management, Finance, and Global Supply Chain & Logistic teams to align technical requirements with operational objectives. Your leadership will influence design approaches and execution strategies across complex projects.
You will stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and evolving industry standards, proactively integrating innovative solutions into Target’s engineering practices. You will advance energy-efficient and scalable infrastructure that supports long-term business growth and enhances the guest and team member experience.

About you Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
10+ years of experience with a consultant engineering firm, contractor, or a manufacturer of building engineered systems
Professional Engineer or the ability to become registered within the next 12 months
Proficient in Electrical Distribution, Generators, and Electrical Systems design
Knowledgeable in the operation of commercial building engineered systems
Understanding of commercial building design and construction processes
Ability to use CAD software for models and construction documents
Ability to work with discipline-specific engineering software and project management applications
Practical knowledge of discipline-specific products
Strong negotiation skills to achieve stakeholder consensus
Ability to synthesize complex information and make informed decisions
Desire to pursue technical training opportunities to increase skills
Ability to champion ideas and address difficult problems
Ability to lead multi-discipline teams and consider all viewpoints
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day arrangement means the core role will be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location and virtually, depending on day-to-day requirements.
