Recruitment Number 25-0361. The immediate vacancies are with the Department of Accounting & General Services in Kona and Hilo, Hawaii Island. Salary: $6,090 to $6,704 per month (SR-19, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential. Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors. full performance level

for building construction inspection work involving a broad range of inspection functions for a variety of construction operations, materials, and methods under varying conditions and requirements.

Responsibilities

Inspect and measure construction materials used, and check methods employed in the construction at hand; inspect the erection of false work and concrete forms used; accept or reject concrete forms, construction equipment and materials based on specifications or modifications approved by a higher level inspector. Keep detailed records of work completed and materials used; prepare and submit routine inspection reports as directed; prepare monthly progress reports concerning the construction project; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Basic Experience/Education:

Work experience which involved tasks that demonstrated the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations. General Experience:

TWO (2) YEARS of Journey level experience in the building construction trades, which demonstrated knowledge of the full range of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities and practices used in such trades, including knowledge of building construction methods and materials and safety requirements and practices, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches. Specialized Experience:

ONE (1) YEAR of either: A) Building construction inspection work experience; or B) Supervisory work experience, over a force of skilled trades workers in the building construction industry that involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting the quality of workmanship and materials for adherence to such plans and specifications. Driver's License:

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Lift and Carry:

Applicants must be able to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and 70 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck). Substitutions Allowed:
