Sr Director, Technology - Actuarial, ML/AI Engineering, and Modernization role at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Base pay range: $175,000.00/yr - $315,000.00/yr. This role is part of the Global Data and Advanced Analytics (GDAA) team focused on data, analytics, and business insights solutions for Global Risk Solutions (GRS). The Senior Director will define, drive and implement the Data Strategy while leading technical teams, driving delivery, setting department objectives, and motivating teams to achieve those objectives. The Actuarial Reporting and Analytics Engineering teams deliver data insights for Risk Selection, Exposure Management, Pricing, Reserving, Loss Forecasting, and Portfolio Management, and partner with GRS Flagship initiatives such as Quote Bind Issue (QBI) and Cyber Underwriting. The Data Science Engineering teams enable predictive, AI, and Gen AI model insights through cloud-based solutions across GRS functional domains and support process re-engineering in the Underwriting value stream. You will partner with customers, data engineering, data scientists, and business SMEs to define and prioritize needs and develop state-of-the-art cloud-based solutions. In partnership with Enterprise Data and Data Science, you will optimize ML engineering practices and ML Ops and advance innovative solutions to solve high-impact business problems, driving GRS to be an industry leader. The role will also support and lead data modernization initiatives. Responsibilities

Directs the strategic design and development of capabilities and systems across multiple environments and business groups; implements vision, success factors, and operating plans with best software development practices. Communicates department/enterprise vision, strategies, critical success factors and plans; develops high level plans. Anticipates technology evolution and aligns it with business solutions; sets high level direction based on industry trends and standards. Hires and manages managers; coaches and counsels on management techniques. Defines staffing strategy and plan (FTEs, skills, experience, internal/external mix) to meet department needs. Sets department objectives and develops a high-performance software development organization. Fosters business partnerships with clients, vendors, and executives to promote trust and efficiency while aligning with business priorities. Oversees multiple projects, establishes scope and schedule, and allocates resources; adapts to changing priorities. Jointly establishes financial targets with business partners and ensures projects deliver to plan. Maintains network of industry contacts; analyzes trends and makes strategic/tactical recommendations. Ensures architectures align with business objectives and oversees ongoing improvement of engineering practices. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in technical or business field; Master’s preferred. Generally at least 15 years of related experience with 5 years in a leadership role desirable. Deep knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, and their application to business opportunities. Strong understanding of business operations, objectives, and strategies. Experience with project planning methodologies and IT standards/guidelines; advanced management concepts. Ability to lead multiple teams and promote a collaborative environment. Strong negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills; excellent oral and written communication and presentation abilities. About Us
