What to Expect As a Cabin Systems Engineer in Tesla's Cabin Engineering Department, you will play a pivotal role in the design and engineering of vehicle cabin systems from concept to end-of-life, while addressing challenges with existing products. This role involves working on major commodities such as mechanical systems (structural components, mechanisms, soft and hard trims) and mechatronics elements (wire harnesses, controllers, sensors, and software). System validation is a critical component of success in this position. Team members are expected to leverage specialized skills for core engineering tasks while adopting a multidisciplinary approach to support the broader team.

What You\'ll Do

Define problems and develop innovative concepts and solutions for vehicle cabin systems

Validate and optimize designs by generating comprehensive design validation plans (DVPs), and engage in prototyping, physical testing, CAE simulations, and design reviews

Balance and manage product attributes including safety, functionality, comfort, aesthetics, cost, mass, schedule, and sustainability

Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials

Execute detailed design with a focus on datum and fixation strategies, GD&T, and DFM principles

Apply understanding of material science to ensure proper selection and application of materials for relevant systems

Generate DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for systems under development

What You\'ll Bring

Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Evidence of exceptional ability in engineering

Design engineering experience with an interest in multidisciplinary approaches

Organized approach to managing complex and multiple validation plans

Hands-on experience in building or prototyping physical products

Proficiency in hand-sketching as a communication tool

Automotive engineering experience, preferably in cabin systems such as instrument panels, headliners, or seating systems

Expected Compensation $92,720 - $206,520/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
