Job Description:
Lead Middle School and High School Student Life programming in partnership with the Director of Student Life.
Our Church Christ Church, a multi-congregational Anglican church located in the greater Kansas City area, exists to be a people fully alive in God’s Kingdom. Position Purpose We believe Jesus’ promise of abundant life is offered to everyone – including children (Acts 2:39). Therefore, we are seeking a family life team member to help us grow the faith of our teenagers and reach new students to help them know Jesus and follow Him joyfully into adulthood.
In this role, you will envision new ways to reach out to our wider community, tell the stories of transformation happening in our families, and mobilize new team members to execute student ministry. We are looking for a vibrant Christian who serves out of the overflow of their relationship with Jesus Christ, is passionate about working with kids and students, is energized by working collaboratively on a strategic next generation team, and is appreciative of the depth and vitality of the Anglican tradition.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Develop and execute weekly ministry to the students of Christ Church in both Overland Park & Mission in partnership with the Director of Student Life
Help lead weeknight middle and high school ministry in partnership with the Director of Student Life.
Provide leadership presence for weekly Sunday morning middle school Sunday School.
Execute curricula that will support and accomplish ministry goals.
Identify, pursue, and train new adult volunteers; equip, support, and develop existing adult volunteers.
Administrative responsibilities
Help organize and lead High School Summer Camp and Soul in the City for Middle School.
Help organize and lead retreats for students to grow in their faith.
Plan and execute fun events to engage students in community life.
Envision and develop new ministry areas
Develop and lead new and meaningful service and outreach opportunities for students in partnership with the Director of Outreach.
Prepare, launch and lead the Alpha Youth Series.
Create new events and mission opportunities for students/families.
Perform other ministerial duties to students and families in partnership with the Director of Student Life
Support, encourage, and resource students and families as needed for mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Pray regularly for parents, students, families, and leaders.
Partner with and equip parents with discipleship resources and training.
Staff duties
Steward budget and resources.
Report to the Director of Student Life and attend Family Life Team meetings.
Attend Staff Prayer and Staff Meetings.
Personal Development
Practice personal spiritual development and disciplines.
Participate fully as an active member of the Christ Church community.
Pursue ongoing ministry development and training.
Network with like-minded ministry leaders.
