Come join an award winning program at ANSEP. We are recruiting for an ANSEP Counselor to support our Acceleration Academy programming (grades 9-12). Responsibilities

The ANSEP counselor provides essential mental health support to students aged 13-19. Daily duties include offering short-term counseling to help students navigate challenges such as grief, trauma, and academic stress. Conduct clinical mental health assessments and create individualized care plans. Provide crisis response and on-call support during student on-campus weeks. Collaborate with university and program leadership to ensure student safety and well-being. Engage with families to provide psychoeducation and support staff through training on trauma-informed practices. Deliver wellness education to students using experiential learning methods. Qualifications and Experience

Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field. Active licensure as a mental health professional in Alaska (e.g., LPC, PsyD, LCSW, or LMFT) verified upon hire. Minimum of three years of experience in child and family care, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, crisis situations and to collaborate with students, families, faculty, and university departments. Experience in youth programming settings such as schools, camps, or residential treatment programs is preferred. Position Details

Location: UAA campus in Anchorage. Full-time exempt position; part-time (24 hours/3 days a week) may be considered. Competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. New hires placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience. Application and Requirements
