Assistant Director of Admissions
Full-Time (12-Months), Exempt, Category 3
Salary Commensurate With Experience
The Assistant Director of Admissions
is primarily responsible for the outreach, counseling, and recruitment of middle and high school students.In addition, this position serves as an ambassador and a key representative of the school. Much of the image of the school is shaped by the counselor position and the Admissions Office generally – especially for prospective families and new students. As a counselor and recruitment officer of Oaks Christian School, this position creates and maintains strategic alliances with schools, prospective students and families, churches, external constituents, and alumni.In partnership with the Admissions team, this position must articulate the primary messages of the school in ways compelling to prospective families and must provide outstanding leadership in the partnership of executing events, activities and duties related to the enrollment process of the institution. Primary Duties in Admissions ·
In cooperation with the Vice-President of Admissions and the Admissions Team, help execute a variety of Admission events and activities, including but not limited to School Visits and Programs, Admission Information Nights, Open House, Family Informational Events, and other miscellaneous outreach efforts. ·
Assist in developing relationships with schools, churches, and prospective families and students within the market area of the school, with a view of increasing the number of applications received and expanding the enrollment of the school. ·
Periodically work with various student and parent volunteers to successfully utilize our volunteer human resources. ·
Represent the school at recruitment programs such as school site visits, parent meetings, community forums, domestic School Boarding Fairs, etc. ·
Follow up with families and constituents regarding the entire admission process - from prospect to enrollee. ·
Assist in processing and reviewing admission applications – individually and in Committee. ·
Conduct admission appointments, tours, interviews, shadow days, and orientation for new and prospective students. ·
Oversee the Lion’s Voice Student Ambassador Program, managing selection with faculty input, reviewing applications, training ambassadors for tours and events, and delegating responsibilities for public engagement. ·
As a member of the enrollment management team, develop and maintain liaisons with teachers, educational programs, programs with special admission requirements, and feeder schools for admission and recruitment. ·
Work in tandem with and represent the Admissions Office with various Oaks Christian departments, committees and constituents as assigned. ·
Possibly some Domestic and International travel for admissions recruitment. ·
In some cases, assist in the implementation of various databases, hardware and software tools and systems utilized by the Admission Office – both internally and with external vendors. ·
Qualified to conduct NWEA Map Growth testing, train proctors, schedule test dates, and input test data. ·
Other duties as assigned. Skills Required : Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.Excellent character and work ethic. Must be a self-starter and be a highly motivated individual.Strong communication, management, and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and handle challenging assignments and job duties simultaneously.This person must demonstrate ability to bridge generational gaps, navigate cultural and religious differences, and consistently communicate the primary messages of Oaks Christian School in clear and compelling ways.As a counselor and recruiter,
this position requires some evening and weekend work and attendance throughout the school year. Experience ·
Skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution. Creative thinker who thinks “outside of the box”. ·
Familiarity with the inner workings of OCS as either a current/former parent, faculty, or staff member would be beneficial in the problem resolution process. ·
Empathetic listener who can paraphrase emotional concepts back to the sender in a calm and concise manner. ·
Ability to listen, protect confidential information, weigh alternatives, and develop an appropriate course of action with minimal supervision. Personal Attributes ·
Outgoing personality with a genuine concern for all parental issues. ·
Highly organized with the ability to analyze data and present findings in an easy-to-understand format. ·
Willing to go the extra mile to resolve issues in a manner that protects OCS and supports our parents and students. ·
Willing and able to be flexible with working hours as the need arises. Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.Advanced degree a plus. Admissions experience preferred.Interviewing Techniques Training preferred.
