The SpaceX supply chain department supports Starship by managing procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics and inventory to enable ambitious growth while reducing risk and driving value. GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER (STARSHIP)
This role is part of SpaceX’s supply chain organization and contributes to meeting SpaceX’s growth targets through strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization across assigned categories. Responsibilities
Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department, including payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings Develop and maintain internal stakeholder relationships to optimize value of products and services that support business unit requirements Communicate, manage, and drive compliance to sourcing strategies Identify and execute cost reduction projects with planning, stakeholder coordination, estimation, and updates Perform advanced quantitative analyses to assess financial impact of decisions, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories Collaborate with stakeholders to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure criteria (e.g., delivery, cost reduction, quality, timeliness) Conduct research, benchmarking, and market analysis for assigned categories Create contract documents in collaboration with the legal department and manage contracts to ensure supplier performance Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms and apply sound business reasoning to align with business needs Maximize value and cost savings while reducing risk through strategic negotiations Drive year-over-year cost optimization by reducing usage and eliminating waste in operations Establish preferred suppliers for assigned categories Create and implement programs to develop, monitor, and improve supplier performance and KPIs Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categories Develop and lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions for assigned categories Basic Qualifications
Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience in purchasing, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, or material cost control; or a bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience; or 10+ years of relevant experience Experience in purchasing, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, or material cost control Preferred Skills and Experience
Familiarity or experience with aerospace components Ability to read drawings and blueprints; understanding of manufacturing complexity Experience with technical procurement, manufacturing, or designing production components APICS certification Proven leadership and team-building abilities Strong problem-solving skills with speed and impact Ability to learn quickly and prioritize to meet customer and company needs Excellent analytical and organizational skills Excellent customer service, self-motivation, and high standards of integrity Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication Technical knowledge of current technologies (e.g., MS Office, SQL, PowerBI) Detail-oriented and capable of adapting to a fast-moving environment High ethical standards and integrity Additional Requirements
Up to 50% travel; international travel may be required Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet milestones This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires onsite work Compliance with U.S. export regulations (ITAR) or equivalent eligibility requirements Equal Opportunity and Compliance
