American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of JELD-WEN, is a wholesale supplier of doors, door hardware, windows, and millwork. The Shipping Lead oversees daily operations on the production floor. This role coordinates team activities, maintains production flow, and ensures quality and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement through Lean management principles. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Coordination Leading morning stretches and setting a positive tone for the day. Assigning team members to starting positions and adjusting labor allocation throughout the day. Supervising and directing operations personnel on the warehouse floor. Evaluating, coaching, and disciplining staff as needed. Training new and existing staff on procedures and expectations. Production Oversight Tracking and maintaining visual management tools, including hour-by-hour boards. Monitoring progress toward daily production goals using JEM tools. Assisting with production tasks when necessary. Working with facility leadership to implement process improvements aligned with Lean principles. Logistics & Customer Service Assisting in dispatch, scheduling and coordinating job site deliveries and production order flow. Providing customer service via phone, email, and will-call. Communicating customer needs with drivers, sales, and operations teams. Pulling and loading materials for shipments and maintaining window delivery schedules. Quality & Safety Ensuring accuracy of shipping materials and paperwork. Maintaining a safe and organized working environment. Other Duties Performing other tasks assigned to support production and operational goals. Qualifications
Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and solve problems effectively. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus. Advanced computer skills and ability to use visual management tools. About JELD-WEN Holding, Inc.
