Why you\'ll love this job This job is a member of the User Experience (UX) team within the Information Technology division at American Airlines. American is transforming the way we deliver software and solutions for our customers. As part of this transformation, the UX organization is championing Design Systems methodology to create and maintain reusable components that will lead to more efficient and consistent product design.
What you\'ll do
Coordinates with other Product team members to manage product dependencies and increments of value
Performs continuous product discovery and offers valuable solutions that align to Product OKRs
Understands the budgetary implications and related organizational constraints when factoring areas of focus
Uses data to define baselines, measure outcomes, share insights, order backlog items, etc.
Conducts competitive benchmarking, presents new technologies/solutions, identifies unmet/underserved needs
Defines and maintains a healthy backlog, operating consistently in adopting organizational standards and presenting backlog items with squads and external team members
Seeks input from product, process and technology areas and balances time-sensitive improvements needed for maintaining both technical and product health
Collaborates with internal team members (e.g., UX, Technology, Vendors, Risk, Compliance, Security)
Influences leaders, squads and peers on product strategy, roadmap items, OKRs and upcoming releases
Practices agility in discovering and delivering value continuously
Works with the Data Governance Platform teams to automate capability processes
Participates in the Data Governance Program Management
All you\'ll need for success Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 3 years of experience in Product Management/Delivery (e.g., product analyst, user researcher, product owner) or 5 years of equivalent Product Management/Delivery experience
Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
Master’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related field plus 5 years of experience in Product Management/Delivery (e.g., product analyst, user researcher, product owner)
Experience determining Product Market Fit and defining a Go-to-Market strategy
Familiarity with Agile Product Management tools
Experience with design system tools such as Storybook, Figma, GitHub, or similar, and front end development technologies such as CSS, HTML and JavaScript
Change management experience identifying downstream data impacts for regulatory requirements and reporting
Experience automating data governance processes/workflows using market-leading data governance products
Experience delivering data governance artifacts such as data dictionaries, metadata, lineage, data movement controls and data element level data quality controls
Experience as a Data Steward (acting as a data expert, auditing, and reviewing data access, acting as a product owner for a data product, data domain, etc.)
Experience working in Agile and DevOps frameworks
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Relevant certifications in Product Management/Product Delivery
Strong knowledge of the product domain including business model, constraints, regulations, and user experiences
Certifications in product management, UX/UI design, or related areas (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, UX/UI Design Certification)
Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders and convey complex technical information clearly
Working knowledge of SQL
Strong understanding of data and analytical concepts
Data Governance certifications: CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional)
Ability to bridge the gap between technical governance concepts and the business
Flexibility in an evolving operating model and ability to pivot focus as needed
