Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership to ensure effective, efficient Children’s Center operations, optimizing performance and continually improving programming in a vastly changing educational environment. The Director performs the following duties: Responsible for creating a culture of collaboration, innovation, learning, teamwork and professional practice, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Early Childhood Programming and Lutheran Church of Hope. Establish effective mechanisms of communication with staff to foster an environment of openness, trust, teamwork, and staff development. Collaborate with Leadership to establish personnel policies and procedures’ including wages, salaries and assures compliance with applicable laws. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications. Directs daily business operations and implements financial policies, with oversight of accounting system and cost controls. Assists in preparing the annual budget for service lines for the approval of the Leadership Team. Reviews financial statements, operating results, and the performance evaluations, on an ongoing basis. Establishes an effective Communication system with Staff and families. Directs implementation of improved work methods, procedures, and processes to ensure provision of high-quality educational programs. Provides leadership in the development of curriculum, operating standards, policies, and procedures affecting the programs of the organization. Prepares annual report on program activity. Acts as liaison to the Early Childhood Team Leader and attends meetings as requested by the Leadership Team. Communicates with Leadership regularly to review service issues and opportunities for improvement to ensure the delivery of high-quality service to all internal and external families. Establishes and maintains an ongoing public relations program to increase community understanding, improve relations with families and children. Attends weekly worship at Lutheran Church of Hope. General Duties

Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work. Behave in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Lutheran Church of Hope. Maintain compliance with DHS Accreditation Standards and Risk Management guidelines. Maintain compliance with Personnel policies and procedures. Meets measures as determined and required for job productivity and performance improvement. Perform other duties as identified to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the Children’s Center. Responsible for completion of communication tasks and activities in a timely manner. This would include, but is not limited to: responding to email, voicemail or telephone messages, promptly, accurately, and professionally. Supervision Given:

Direct supervision exercised over operations, teachers, and programs. Qualifications Required:

Preferred Early Childhood or Elementary Education degree Has completed at least one course in business administration or 12 contact hours in administrative-related training related to personnel, supervision, recordkeeping, or budgeting, or has one year of administrative-related experience. Demonstrates an ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel. Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with the community. Knowledge of standards of education programming. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to resolve issues and deals with difficult situations effectively. Strong investigative, analytical, and business skills. Ability to see the “big picture” and provide solutions for strategy, operational needs, and goals. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Learns new concepts quickly and applies them in the course of their work. Openly and actively communicates information. Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision making and problem-solving expertise. Ability to work as a collaborative team member. Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures. Continuing Education Requirements:

All staff are expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by their immediate leader. In addition, staff are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities. All staff must attend mandatory educational programs.
