Mission Critical Business Development Leader
Mission Critical Business Development Leader - Lenexa, KS Scope of Responsibility: The Mission Critical Business Development Leader is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth, pipeline management, and client satisfaction. This role involves leading national business development efforts, managing key client relationships, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability in the mission-critical market. This role is responsible for meeting annual pipeline and opportunity goals. Essential Functions: Strategic Leadership and Business Development Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement GBA’s sales strategy to ensure alignment with the company's growth objectives and long-term vision. Participating in Go/No-Go decisions, ensuring resources are strategically allocated to high-potential opportunities. Develop and implement supporting client management strategies aligned with sales strategy. Build associated long term and short-term goals for regular tracking. Collaborate with leadership team to define and refine market strategies, sales goals, and client engagement priorities. Drive the pursuit of high-value projects that best align with team established strategy, ensuring the team develops competitive client pursuit strategies. Client Engagement and Relationship Management: Act as a senior-level relationship manager for key clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership opportunities. Provide guidance to the team in maintaining and growing relationships with both new and existing clients. Address escalated client issues collaboratively with leadership while continuing to serve as a trusted advisor. Marketing Coordination: Partner with the marketing team to align business development initiatives with the firm's branding, messaging, and positioning strategies. Collaborate on the creation of client-focused proposals, presentations, and other marketing collateral that reflect market insights and client needs. Provide input on marketing campaigns, ensuring they are targeted to key industries, clients, and geographies. Share business development insights to help refine marketing content, thought leadership pieces, and promotional materials. Ensure CRM systems and marketing tools are effectively integrated and utilized for tracking leads, managing pursuits, and reporting progress. Market Engagement and Visibility: Represent the firm at major conferences, workshops, and industry events, promoting thought leadership and market presence. Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and industry drivers, and share insights with the team to capitalize on opportunities. Build GBA brand presence by participating in key industry associations Operational and Oversight: Ensure CRM data is accurate and up to date, providing clear visibility into the sales pipeline and client activity. Collaborate with marketing and technical teams to develop positioning strategies and client engagement materials. Responsible for annual BD budget development to be approved by leadership team. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred. 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, client management, or related roles within the Mission Critical industry. This should include history of win ratios, leadership positions held in industry groups, industry network connections, etc. Proven track record of leading teams to achieve business development and revenue growth goals. Deep knowledge of the Mission Critical industry, including market trends, client needs, and competitive dynamics. Proficiency in CRM systems and business development tools. Technical Skills & Abilities: Established network of industry contacts in Mission Critical market. Ability to manage complex client accounts and high-value pursuits effectively. A collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork and cross-departmental coordination. Strong analytical skills to track KPIs, identify opportunities, and guide decision-making. Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Strong organizational skills Physical Requirements: This is a leadership role requiring a combination of office work, team collaboration, and frequent client and industry engagement. Travel to client sites, industry events, and regional offices is expected. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up-to 15 pounds at times. Travel: Ability to travel within the U.S. to client and company facilities much of the time.
