REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Director DBS - R&D & Leaf in Winston-Salem. As a key business partner for Scientific Research & Development (SR&D) and Leaf, this role is responsible for aligning with our SR&D and Leaf Operations teams on our overall technology and data strategy to support business needs. The Director DBS – SR&D & Leaf will be accountable for project execution, operational excellence in IT and alignment with both US and global functional strategies to drive business value through technology adoption. This role is an integral part of the DBS team that leads and manages support teams that provide IT services to our Research & Development and Leaf facilities, Product Data Management and related processes.
Responsibilities
Act as the main DBS point of contact for SR&D and Leaf Leadership teams, providing guidance and support on IT-related matters.
Develop and deploy the Digital strategy, roadmap, and operating model for US SR&D and Leaf Operations, aligned with global standards and business needs.
Build strong business function relationships to ensure seamless IT service delivery, proactively communicating value and impact.
Provide solution consulting across initiatives, ensuring optimization and alignment with IT and business priorities.
Manage a team accountable for project delivery and ongoing operational support activities.
Engage with outsourced partners, driving operational excellence, vendor performance, and incident resolution with RCA.
Lead, manage, and/or participate in cross-functional project teams, ensuring collaboration and results.
Maintain local and global IT alignment with overall strategy, budget, and resourcing requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or similar discipline preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience across IT strategy, support, delivery, or business roles within R&D, Product, and/or Operations.
Strong knowledge of Enterprise Platforms (ERP, PDM, EQMS), major software applications (Siemens, Dassault, Ignition, LabWare, Agilent), and IT infrastructure (cloud and on-premise).
Experience supporting Product, R&D, and regulatory business teams, with understanding of FDA Computer System Validation requirements and validated applications.
Demonstrated leadership of internal and external teams, with proven project management skills including roadmaps, resources, budgets, and contracts.
Functional change management expertise, with advanced stakeholder and risk management skills.
Ability to drive innovation by applying new technology trends to business challenges, while ensuring proactive incident and vendor management.
Excellent cross-functional collaboration, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with senior leadership and technical teams.
