The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix is seeking a vice chair of education in the Department of Psychiatry. This is an opportunity for an outstanding leader with a national reputation as a respected and accomplished clinician, educator and collaborator. The Department of Psychiatry is seeking to strengthen its existing programs and to expand its educational activities as part of its contribution to the College’s mission. The department currently has a residency and a geriatric psychiatry fellowship in partnership with Banner – University Medical Group (B-UMG) and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship in partnership with B-UMG and Phoenix Children’s. The vice chair works in strategic consultation with the department chair, the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and the Office of Graduate Medical Education. They will assist the department in developing an education strategic plan, serving as a mentor and developing collaborative relationships with university, clinical and community partners. The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry, actively participate in teaching, clinical service and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and implement departmental education vision and infrastructure. Build internal and external relationships to inspire and promote academic collaborations across the health system. Promote and provide a teaching environment of the highest quality and integrity. Foster education programs of national distinction through innovation and collaboration. Mentor medical students, residents, fellows and faculty. Engage in teaching activities for students, residents and fellows. Participate on appropriate department and/or College committees as well as professional organizations, as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications

Must possess an MD or DO or equivalent degree from an accredited instruction. Be board certified in Psychiatry or related specialty and be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona. Be eligible for medical staff membership at Banner – University Phoenix. Be eligible for a University of Arizona academic appointment at the associate professor level or higher. Have experience in the development and successful implementation of new educational programs. Be Consultation-Liaison (CL) certified. Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrate experience in the development and successful implementation of new educational programs. Show experience with community partnership and collaboration. Have experience serving on education or curriculum committee.
