Shipping Coordinator
role in the Marysville, CAplant.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily shipping and logistics operations, ensuring all customer and supplier requirements are met efficiently and accurately.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Collaborates closely and communicates effectively with Sales, Transportation, and Operations teams to consistently exceed customer expectations. Builds strong, positive relationships across departments as well as with customers, supplies, employees, and carriers. Delivers and upholds exceptional customer service, ensuring both customers and employees are treated with respect and receive outstanding support throughout all interactions. Proactively communicates updates to internal sales leadership and customer contacts in a timely manner to minimize potential costs or disruptions for either party. Coordinates shipment logistics by aligning details with customers and both internal and external production and shipping teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations. LOGISTICS: Monitors and resolves delivery exceptions daily, addressing issues such as delays, shortages, and non-conformance to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Performs accurate order entry and processes essential shipping documentation, including shipping instructions and Bills of Lading. Develops and follows data capture requirements (e.g., CRM systems), ensuring all daily orders are complete, accurate, and properly documented for reporting and analysis. Ensures availability of shipping materials to meet current and upcoming shipment requirements, including mixed load configurations. Reviews and verifies all shipping paperwork and activities for completeness and compliance with company standards. Supports and trains shipping personnel, including truck loaders to maintain operational efficiency and safety. Provides backup support for loading trucks and trailers as needed. Utilizes Real Time Freight (RTF) to post loads, pickups, and deliveries, enduring visibility and coordination across logistics operations. Processes re-consignment and diversion requests for shipments and deliveries as necessary. Generates and provides fright quotes for truckload shipments in a timely and accurate manner. Analyzes key freight lane performance, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and contributes to carrier relationship management and rate negotiations. SAFETY:
Follows all safety rules and participates in safety training. Uses PPE as required for all tasks performed.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties and special projects as assigned, including active participation in inventory counts, audits, and cross-functional initiatives as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods throughout the workday. Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier items with assistance. Frequent use of hands and arms to handle, reach, and operate tools, equipment, and materials. Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (certification may be required or provided). Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to dust or other airborne particles. Must have the visual and auditory ability to safely perform job duties, including reading labels, identifying materials, and hearing equipment alarms or verbal instructions. Occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching may be required during loading/unloading or inventory activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: H.S. Diploma or GED. 2+ years of work experience within Customer Service, Logistics or Transportation required. Requires understanding of logistics transactions, processes, and documentation. Must have a customer-centric orientation with all contacts and able to professionally and promptly respond to email and phone inquiries. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and ability to quickly learn company business systems; excellent computer skills. Able to work in a flexible, ever-changing environment with ongoing interruptions. Strong numerical and time management skills with attention to detail.
