Working Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift, 40 hours a week. Schedule may change as business needs dictate. Position Summary: The Health Technician assists and reports to the Health Director in all capacities. The Health Technician provides personal care and hygienic upkeep of participants. Essential Functions: · Take participants at regularly scheduled times to and from the restroom, and as needed. · Assist participants in all areas of toileting and personal care. · Assist and supervise participants’ personal hygiene, including changing clothes, providing nail and hair care, and oral hygiene as necessary. · Be familiar with participant health status and report unusual occurrences to the Health Director. · Participate in the care planning process—including but not limited to attending care plan meetings, meeting with participants individually regarding their care plan, issuing invitations to those involved in each participant’s care plan, and assisting Health Director to create and modify care plans for each participant. · Assist participants with meals, including but not limited to opening milk, cutting food, and monitoring special diets, etc. · Assess vitals and blood glucose per each participant’s care plan and medical orders. · Administer medications per physician’s orders and COMAR regulations under the auspices of the Health Director. · Ensure appropriate documentation of all participant absences and staff follow-up. · Transcribe health information to participant charts/electronic health record. · Ensure adequate first aid supplies for the center and each vehicle. · Assist Health Director to prepare for education groups. · Attend annual in-service training as required. · Assist with exercise program and daily activities as needed. · Monitor room and walk with wandering participants as needed. · Assist in loading and unloading vans as needed. · Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education and Experience: · Certified Nurse Assistant

(*CNA

) *license in State of Maryland; Certified Medication Technician (CMT) license in State of Maryland. · Preferred one-year experience in geriatric and/or psychiatric healthcare setting, involving face-to-face interaction and problem solving with seniors and their caregivers. · Current CPR and First Aid. · Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with participants, families, care providers, colleagues, and community referral sources. · Ability to follow instructions quickly and easily with minimal supervision and to seek out direction promptly. Internal Relationships and Language: · Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. · Ability to accurately and completely document medical information. · Aware of potential hazards or problems within the environment and seek out supervision promptly. Report issues, successes, and concerns promptly to Center Director. · Work collaboratively with all center staff. · Aware of confidentiality of client information. Computer Skills: · Comfortable using the computer, internet and email. · Proficient in Microsoft Office Software and electronic health record software. Physical Demands: · Able to maneuver various pathways for entry/exit into locations. · Able to lift, carry and move a variety of items, approximately 50 lbs or less. · Must be able to assist participants in a wide range of personal care duties (ex. toileting) We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
