The Telecom Critical Infrastructure Engineer plays a critical role in the design, construction, and management of critical telecommunications infrastructure. This position is responsible for evaluating and designing regen building layouts, supporting civil construction activities, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications throughout the project lifecycle. The role will oversee land acquisition efforts, coordinate with contractors, and manage power and environmental infrastructure, including generators, UPS systems, and battery installations. In addition, the engineer will design and document power circuits, perform detailed capacity audits, and support the implementation of colocation services. A strong focus on system compliance, accurate documentation, and cross-functional collaboration will be essential, as the position contributes to both the operational stability and future scalability of critical sites.

Essential Job Functions

Regen Site Engineering & Management

Evaluate and design regen building sizing and layout.

Support the civil construction phase of regen sites, including permitting and contractor coordination.

Perform power audits and capacity assessments using industry tools and standards.

Land Acquisition / Civil Engineering

Collaborate with legal and real estate teams for land acquisition.

Oversee civil construction activities and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.

Manage external civil and construction contractors on-site.

Power and Environmental Infrastructure

Design and document power circuit layouts using Carma or similar platforms.

Support installation, maintenance, and upgrades of electronic card access systems.

Manage generator, UPS, and battery engineering, including installations and lifecycle maintenance.

Conduct detailed capacity audits for power and space across facilities.

Colocation Site Engineering

Manage 3rd party physical installation and implementation of colocation power and space services.

Track power and space KPI metrics; generate periodic capacity reports.

System and Standards Compliance

Maintain accurate documentation for all Critical site infrastructure changes and designs.

Contribute to testing and validation of new hardware for deployment in critical sites.

Requirements:

Minimum 8 years of experience in fiber ILA (In-Line Amplifier) construction, including site development and commissioning.

Proven background in regen site engineering, power capacity assessments, and building layout/design.

Hands-on experience with civil construction activities, including permitting, land acquisition, and contractor management.

Strong knowledge of power infrastructure systems (generators, UPS, alarming, security camera systems and battery systems) and ability to perform power and space audits.

Proficiency with engineering design tools for circuit and site layout documentation.

Familiarity with electronic access systems, colocation site implementation, and facility capacity tracking/reporting.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple external vendors/contractors while ensuring compliance with engineering standards.

Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (legal, real estate, construction, and operations).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to accurate documentation and compliance standards.

Familiar with NEC, TIA, NFPA, OSHA, EPA, Telecordia specifications and standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Military experience

BICSI / RCDD certification

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach.
