Aimbridge Hospitality The Area Director of Sales is responsible for planning and managing the overall sales and marketing for a collection of 2-10 full service, premium select and/or independent branded hotels. This role aims to achieve optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting or exceeding hotel profit objectives for all hotels in the collection. This individual will oversee the sales department operations including direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, hiring, training, coaching, and staff management. Additional responsibilities include managing the sales and marketing budget, forecast, advertising, marketing, and business plans within approved budgets. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to complete their responsibilities; overtime applies for OEM associates and is calculated accordingly. Qualifications
At least 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 4 years of related experience. Prior Director of Sales or National Sales experience selling major downtown markets is required. Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state. Must possess highly developed verbal and written communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guests, and/or corporate clients. Thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing. Strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment. Proficiency in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organization and presentation skills. Ability to interact with and manage people of diverse backgrounds while solving complex problems and creating a productive sales team. Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Responsibilities
Coordinate all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue. Coordinate sales automation efforts, develop and manage a region-wide sales database for email campaigns and customer solicitation to maximize revenue. Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the division’s annual budget and the advertising, public relations, marketing, and sales plans to maximize rate, occupancy, and opportunities for food & beverage, ensuring revenue/profit targets are met. Initiate and develop sales trips to key feeder markets to identify accounts that can benefit revenue performance targets across hotels in the cluster; work with property-based Directors of Sales to coordinate on-property efforts. Proactively conduct outside sales calls, sales tours, and entertain clients. Understand contracts and how to negotiate terms therein. Develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies. Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate market trends. Conduct on-property visits to assess strength of sales leadership, culture, and adherence to Aimbridge Hospitality standards and metrics. Achieve individual, team, and budgeted goals and metrics. Train all hotel staff to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue. With GM and/or Corporate HR guidance, manage Human Resources within the division to attract, retain, and motivate employees; hire, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel; conduct performance and salary reviews; resolve problems; maintain open communication; discipline and terminate when appropriate. Develop a working knowledge of hotel operations and policies (Sales, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Reservations). Maintain strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations. Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly meetings and other required functions, providing training as needed. Maintain professional relationships and open communication across the collection to achieve initiatives with marketing partners and internal departments (Second Wave, Aimbridge Digital, Branded field marketing). Travel weekly as required. Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence and perform other duties as requested by management. Benefits
