Shipping and Receiving Clerk opportunity at Triad Fabricators
Triad Fabricators, based in Evansville, Indiana, was formed by consolidating three legacy fabrication shops; Traylor Bros. (founded in 1946), Sterling Industrial (founded in 1982), and Traylor Industrial (founded in 1984).
Our focus is fabrication, which is what we do best, but as part of the Traylor Construction Group, we have the resources to see any project through from concept to completion. With both domestic and international experience, Triad has proven ability on a global scale.
Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in the logistics and operations of our fabrication shop. This position involves accurately and efficiently handling incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring that all materials are properly documented, stored, and distributed to the appropriate departments.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Receive incoming shipments of materials, supplies, and equipment
Verify the accuracy of shipments by checking packing lists and purchase orders
Inspect and document any damages or discrepancies in received items
Organize and store materials in designated areas
Prepare and pack products for outbound shipments
Generate shipping labels and ensure all documentation is accurate
Coordinate with carriers for timely pickups and deliveries
Communicate with internal departments to schedule shipments and coordinate logistics
Maintain accurate records of inventory levels
Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies
Monitor and report low stock levels to the purchasing department
Inspect products for quality before shipment
Report any quality issues or defects to the appropriate departments
Provide timely updates on shipment status and expected delivery dates
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling materials
Ensure compliance with shipping and receiving regulations and procedures
Skills and Abilities
Attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer skills for data entry
Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in shipping and receiving or a similar role
Familiarity with inventory management systems
Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift
Capability to lift and carry moderately heaving items as well as stand, walk, and perform physical tasks associated with shipping and receiving
Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Work in a fabrication shop environment
Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly

Qualifications:
The ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions in English and perform routine duties without immediate supervision.
Practical application of recognized standards of good practice relevant to the servicing and repair of plumbing and domestic hot water systems, and related mechanical equipment such as pumps, hot water heaters, boilers, etc., including knowledge of material needs.
The ability to read and interpret plumbing blueprints and drawings.
Effective human relations skills with a proactive customer-oriented focus.
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, and the university community.
To be available at all hours for emergency service, as well as the ability to work overtime. Participates in on-call rotation.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and how to apply them in a safe, cost-effective manner.
To be knowledgeable on basic practices employed in the building trades.
Frequent use of hand and power tools and shop equipment.
The ability to walk and climb stairs and provide manual labor necessary to fulfill job functions. Many buildings have multiple floors with stairs and no elevators.
The ability to work in environments with extreme temperature and humidity common in Florida. Frequently performs work outside and may work in buildings without air conditioning, heating, or other comforts. May work in areas that are dusty, noisy, and areas that may have unpleasant odors.
