Overview
This position supports the Polyline in fulfilling customer orders by moving materials, receiving, unloading poly material, operating saws, operating planers, and other hand finishing equipment.
Responsibilities
Verifying that materials meet the purchase order requirements at receiving. In a safe manner, move material from the receiving area to their correct inventory location. Fills out material issue cards. Sets up and operates saws and planers or special purpose machines to prepare material for further operations. Understands dimensions of 1/8" tolerances and what the sequence of operations should be. Verifies conformance of materials to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Uses tape measures and dial calipers to measure and document dimensions of the work piece. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Fork truck and crane use required. Maintain a clean, organized and efficient work area. Fully responsible for the quality of their work. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices. Must be a team player and participate in efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Work overtime as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Who is Kadant Solutions Division?

Qualifications
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade School Diploma preferred. Minimum two years of hands on experience with the set up and operation of Saws, Planer and other types of machines. Experience with devices to lift heavy, irregular shaped objects (i.e. Cranes, Power Lifts, and methods of lifting.)
Knowledge: Basic shop mathematics, able to read basic level blue prints. Understand the order of machining operations and good manufacturing practices.
Skill: Able to read and interpret basic blue prints. Able to correctly use and read measuring tools (i.e. Tape Measure and Vernier Calipers. Ability to control the equipment to hold tolerances to .125 consistently. Verbal and written communication skills to convey information within the organization. Ability to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance. Able to prioritize tasks.
Physical/Environmental Demands: Possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials. Ability to lift heavy weight, carry at least 50 pounds and move, pull or push materials of this magnitude. Will work near moving mechanical parts. Periodically exposed to hazards of a serious nature requiring care in the use of machinery as well as the use of personal protective equipment.
