Harbor Health Services is seeking a
Director of Dental Services
to direct the Dental Departments for Harbor Health Services Dental Operations, including Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, Harbor Community Health Center - Plymouth, Ellen Jones Community Dental Center, and Harbor Community Health Center - Hyannis. The Director can be based at any of these locations but will travel to other health center sites as needed. Responsibilities
Provides oversight and management of Harbors Dental Department and Quality Assurance Program, ensuring compliance with State, Federal, and DPH regulations and requirements at all HHSI sites. Provides direct, comprehensive dental care to patients. Provides direct supervision of the Associate Dental Directors, Dental Team Leaders, Dentists, Dental Externs, Dental Residents, visiting Faculty, and Hygienists. Participates in staff recruitment, professional development, and programming for training and retention of staff. Develops and assesses fee schedules for all payers; assists with vendor negotiations. Sets clinic hours and schedules appropriate levels of staff in collaboration with the Senior Medical Director. Serves as Chief Attending for the AEGD residency program. Assists with grant writing and implementation of grant programming. Represents Harbors Dental Department at agency, community, state, and federal forums. Provides senior leadership with guidance on all oral health programming matters. Develops and implements policies and procedures, credentialing and privileging of dental providers, staff training, professional development, recruitment and retention objectives. Supervises dentists and dental hygienists with regular review of competencies, charting, safety protocols, customer service satisfaction, coding rules and other practice-related issues. Develops, implements, and monitors dental quality metrics and manages escalated patient concerns. Investigates trends in dental practices to guide staff on advances in the field. Ensures effective implementation and maintenance of the Dental Student Program, Dental Residency Program, and collaborations with educational programs with accredited instruction for students, interns, and residents. Responsible for operational budgets of the dental program and participates in budget development. Works with other Dental Leadership to assess patient and community needs and develop service expansion ideas and treatment plans. Supports dental needs for marketing and outreach events. During emergency operations may be required to report to and/or remain at work. Assists with clinical tasks/assignments as needed. Requirements
DMD or DDS degree from an accredited college or university. Current Massachusetts Full Dental License, DEA, Mass Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) and BLS certification required. 3 or more years of experience as a Dentist with at least one year in a supervisory/management role. Knowledge of electronic dental practice systems; EPIC/OCHIN preferred. 3 years of experience with dental coding and billing practices. Proven knowledge of budget and accounting. Proven training capabilities. Intermediate skills/experience with Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Community Health Center experience preferred. Must be able to travel timely between all HHSI sites to perform duties.
