Position Overview At Velo3D, Applications Engineers bridge the gap between manufacturing, sales, and customer support teams. The Jr. Applications Engineer will be working directly with senior engineers in preparing print files, facilitating internal part manufacturing, analyzing data, reporting results, as well as supporting external customers. There are opportunities for hands-on problem solving, customer-facing interactions, public speaking events, and attending trade shows. Responsibilities

Prepare print files per customer specifications such that results meet acceptance criteria Assist in manufacturing processes such as printer operation, part depowdering, heat treatment, etc. Provide feedback on manufacturability of components and guide team members’ and/or customers’ efforts. Provide technical support to customers via email, phone, or in-person as needed. Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to develop technical proposals and presentations. Gather and report customer feedback internally to guide product development and improvement. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related discipline). Basic understanding of engineering principles and technical problem-solving. Ability to grasp complex technical concepts, learn new technologies, and understand advanced processes quickly High attention to detail Strong proactive communication skills, both verbal and written Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Demonstrates strong situational awareness to assess risks and respond proactively in dynamic environments. Work Environment

Work is performed in an AS9100-certified manufacturing facility that includes the use of forklifts, industrial lasers, atomized metal powders, heavy materials, and capital equipment such as CNC machines, EDM, LPBF 3D printers, and high-temperature furnaces. Strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols is required, including but not limited to: safety eyewear, hearing protection, steel-toe safety shoes, cut-resistant gloves, and respirators as appropriate. Must be able to stand for extended periods on the shop floor and lift up to 50 lbs safely as part of regular duties. Some tasks may involve prolonged periods of desk work, including extensive computer use for documentation, monitoring systems, or process control.
