The Information Assurance Systems Engineer is a Systems Engineer who is also a subject matter expert in developing systems and equipment that protect classified National Security information. The role applies security and cryptography expertise throughout the Systems Engineering process to develop and certify National Security systems on time, within budget, and with low residual risk. Essential Functions

The Information Assurance Systems Engineer is an ideal position for those with Systems Engineering experience in the design, development, and testing of Information Assurance solutions for Defense and Intelligence community customers. The candidate should possess expertise in Systems Engineering as well as in Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography. Demonstrated history of success in developing NSA Approved products is highly desirable. Within the security engineering context, the primary responsibility includes: concept of operations development, requirements decomposition/synthesis, architecture development and analysis, and security test planning and execution. Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline; Master’s degree highly desired. At least 4+ years’ experience in Systems Engineering for embedded or secure communication systems. Complete understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle from conceptualization through system testing. Experience developing concepts of operations, formulating requirements, and crafting design and implementation plans. Proficiency in creating test plans, procedures, and cases, including basic scripting, system integration testing, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in Python scripting for test automation, diagnostics, and system-level debugging in embedded environments. Experience applying the left side of the V-model (requirements analysis, system architecture, design). Hands-on experience with systems integration and verification testing (right side of the V-model). Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), including TLS and certificate/key management. Experience with military specifications and standards. Experience with modeling to create functional representations of complex systems. Active US Government security clearance (DOD SECRET minimum). US Citizenship required. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time. Preferred Additional Skills

Understanding of Key Management Systems including EKMS and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) and their impact on End Cryptographic Units (ECUs). Proven track record in architecture, design, analysis, integration, and testing of NSA Approved Type 1 Certified systems or equipment. Cybersecurity credentials (e.g., Security+, Network+, CISSP). Experience with Cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework. Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with SysML/UML is highly desired. Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to coordinate efforts and resolve cross-team issues. Additional notes: Working knowledge of Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography principles; NSA TSRD, IASRD, and FSDA requirements; security architecture trade-offs; negotiating security requirements with NSA evaluators; NSA CDRLs; cryptographic algorithms knowledge. Compensation: In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $91,593 - $151,639. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; final offer amount may vary based on experience and location.
