Overview
Under the supervision of the UCLA Cardiac Imaging Medical Director, Operations Director, Manager and Supervisor, the Senior Echocardiographic Technician performs all 2-dimensional, M-mode, and Doppler studies including Stress echocardiogram, Pharmacological stress echocardiogram, and Transesophageal echocardiograms. The Senior Echocardiographic Technician must have at least three years of direct adult cardiac sonographer experience and be registered through American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in adult echocardiography (AE) RDCS. The Senior Echocardiographic Technician notifies (by pager) Cardiac Imaging Physicians for any urgent, STAT and/or pre-operative echo readings. Prepares preliminary interpretation of studies and maintains records pertinent to echo studies. Performs other duties as assigned by UCLA Cardiac Imaging Physicians, Manager, and Supervisor. *This is a 50% per diem position that may convert into a career. Salary: $73.23/hour Responsibilities
Perform all 2-dimensional, M-mode, and Doppler studies including Stress echocardiogram, Pharmacological stress echocardiogram, and Transesophageal echocardiograms. Notify Cardiac Imaging Physicians for urgent, STAT, and pre-operative readings by pager. Prepare preliminary interpretations of studies and maintain records pertinent to echo studies. Perform duties as assigned and related to UCLA Cardiac Imaging. Qualifications
Successful completion of a cardiac echocardiography technology program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC. Registered (ARDMS) in adult cardiac echocardiography (AE) RDCS. Three years of adult echocardiography experience. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology; ability to apply theory to practice in ultrasound evaluation of the target anatomy. Ability to operate and obtain optimal studies from the echo machine; manual dexterity to manipulate transducers, controls, and settings. Ability to generate written preliminary reports using PC and word processing software; ability to make preliminary evaluations of echo studies. Ability to prepare and maintain logs of procedures, track charge documents, and ensure studies are billed and collected. Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal direction; strong interpersonal skills with patients, physicians, nurses, and staff. Ability to read, interpret, and follow physician orders, policies, procedures, or instructions.
