Overview
Location: San Diego, CA at our G2 Ops office and customer site. Work Setting: In person, with some remote opportunity and/or flexible working hours; not a fully remote position. Salary Range: Based on relevant experience, education, and certifications. 8+ years: $135,000+; 10+ years: $155,000+. Please note these ranges vary depending on the specific opportunity, experience, and other factors. Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance. Position: Model-Based Systems Engineer. This senior role supports NAVWAR’s Systems of Systems engineering competency and Technical/ Certification Authority, ensuring capabilities delivered to the Fleet are technically sound, resilient, interoperable, and compliant with DoD and DON policy, requirements, architectures, and standards. You will shape digital engineering strategies and directly support high-level decision-making. What this means: MBSE expertise to lead system/SoS requirements, architecture, design, verification, and validation across multi-disciplinary teams; foster a model-based culture within DoD or Navy programs; work with NAVWAR or similar DoD programs; produce high-visibility reports for Navy/DoD stakeholders; and support DoD engineering processes and documentation. AI and Innovation: We embed AI into work practices, with ongoing initiatives to develop AI playbooks, secure tooling, and real-time support across departments. You will engage with cutting-edge technology and contribute to its application in mission environments. Remote/onsite note: We offer a flexible schedule but cannot offer fully remote opportunities due to project classification. You will work from a government site as required to support DoD programs; teleworking is possible with prior approval. Compliance: DoD Secret level clearance preferred/required where applicable. Proven experience applying MBSE to system/SoS requirements, architecture, design, verification, and validation activities Ability to manage digital engineering initiatives and deliverables across multi-disciplinary teams Experience implementing and sustaining a model-based culture within DoD or Navy programs Knowledge of enterprise standards, governance frameworks, and lifecycle management for NAVWAR or similar DoD programs Familiarity with submarine communications, military communications systems, or Naval Warfare platforms Experience developing and refining system engineering processes, requirements frameworks, and technical documentation Ability to produce and present high-visibility reports, briefs, and executive summaries for senior Navy and DoD stakeholders Strong knowledge of SysML/UML and MBSE tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or similar modeling environments Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field Benefits
