Job Summary Seeking an experienced Corporate Controller with at least 5 years of construction industry experience to oversee all financial operations and reporting for our growing construction firm.
Key Responsibilities
Direct all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Oversee job costing systems and processes specific to construction projects.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and budgets.
Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure GAAP compliance.
Lead and mentor the accounting team.
Provide financial analysis for strategic decisions regarding operations and growth.
Collaborate with project managers to monitor project financials and profitability.
Manage banking relationships and cash flow optimization.
Oversee insurance, bonding, and risk management activities.
Qualifications
CPA license preferred but not required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
Working knowledge of construction accounting methods including percentage of completion, WIP reporting, and job costing.
Experience with construction-specific accounting software.
Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and tax regulations affecting the construction industry.
Experience with financial audits and compliance.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
Skills & Knowledge
Deep understanding of construction billing methods, change orders, and retainage.
Experience with AIA billing formats and progress billing.
Knowledge of contract review and risk assessment.
Proficiency in forecasting cash flow needs for large-scale projects.
Understanding of prevailing wage requirements and certified payroll.
Familiarity with bonding requirements and financial reporting to sureties.
